BHL Cargo Transportation for "Deugro Projects" LLC

Projects of sea carriage of bulky and heavy lift (BHL) pieces of equipment were developed for LLC "Deugro Projects" in 2013. Transportation was effected using six ships en route: from the port of Antwerp to the port of Saint-Petersburg to the port of Elabuga. While developing these projects optimisation of the fleet use was demonstrated without resorting to tug and tow, which made total transportation costs cheaper. Gross mass of some cargo units was greater than 400 tonnes. The largest and heaviest cargo units were stowed on the ship's hatch covers. For the purpose of transportation of these cargoes and to comply with the navigation safety requirements the Federal Agency for Sea and River Transport had to take decision to provide the ship with a relief (exemption) from meeting the requirements of the International Convention SOLAS-74. Engineering survey of the ships and expert evaluation of projects for modification of ship navigational systems and bringing of the modified video systems into service were supervised by RMRS classification society representative.
