  • Cargo Safe Stowage and Securing for CTU

    Nowadays more and more cargoes, including bulky ones, are transported in cargo transport units (CTU) such as container, open-top container, flat-rack, roll-trailer, etc. Standard stowage and securing schemes [1, 2] have been developed for a vast number of cargoes carried in containers and other CTU (see: РД 31.11.21.18-96 Regulations for the Safe Sea Carriage of Cargoes in Containers; IMO/ILO/UNECE Code of Practice for Packing of Cargo Transport Units (CTU Code)).For the rest of cargoes such schemes have to be developed individually taking into account their transport characteristics and properties so as to comply with all conditions to be abided for the purpose of a particular transportation.The final stage is inspection of a packed CTU for compliance with the designed schemes, with formalisation of a CTU Packing Certificate.Not only do specialists of our company have long-term experience in working out of such schemes, but they actively participate in working out of national and international regulatory documents for safe cargo transportation in CTU. When necessary, we carry out research of cargo transport characteristics and properties.

  • Bulky and Heavy Lift (BHL) Cargo Transportation Project Development

    Specialists of our company have long-term successful experience of development of unique bulky and heavy lift cargo transportation projects .Transportation of a BHL (bulky and heavy lift) cargo is a complex of works including several stages:

    • Selection of optimal transport means, taking into account navigation and legal restrictions;
    • Preliminary calculation of feasibility of cargo transportation on/in particular transport means
    • Development of a cargo stowage plan
    • Making necessary calculations such as calculation of ship trim, stability and strength, cargo non-shiftability calculation, ballast schemes, etc.;
    • Development of cargo stowage and securing schemes
    • Endorsement by regulatory bodies.

  • Towing Manual Development

    Any towing, which is not a standard procedure, is considered as a passage and requires development of a project. Specialists of LLC "TransEngineering Company" develop projects in strict compliance with applicable regulatory documentation.

    Types of Projects

    Specialists of our company develop projects for towing/passage of objects:

    • in sea areas outside the prescribed restrictions;
    • for ships that lost their classification society class;
    • for ships, technical condition of which does not meet the IMO or class requirements;
    • for navigation via inland waterways outside the prescribed navigation area or season restrictions in compliance with the RRR requirements

    Manual Contents

    A project of towing/passage includes:

    • Towing line calculation and analysis of compliance of the towing vessel;
    • Analysis of towing/passage route, taking into consideration navigational, hydro-meteorological and operational restrictions;
    • Draft and air draught monitoring within the towing/passage route;
    • Ballast calculation while navigating in various legs of the towing/passage route;
    • Measures for preparation and conversion of the object being towed/in transit;
    • Measures to ensure safety in the course of towing/passage.

    Guidelines and Standards

  • Solutions for Logistics, Construction and Procurement

    There are three major questions most interesting for logistics, engineering and procurement companies:

    1. 1. Commodity limits (maximum overall dimensions and gross mass of cargo units for which transportation within a certain route is feasible);
    2. 2. Transportation feasibility, price and timing estimation;
    3. 3. Maximum possible use of tonnage and transport means cargo carrying capacity with minimisation of securing and dunnage materials, which directly influences the stevedoring costs and timing.

    This kind of shipments is being recognised as an “innovation” by Russian sea-river tonnage, and every shipment is considered individually, which may incur additional time and cost expenses for the Customer.

    Clients of LLC "TransEngineering Company" are offered to gain competitive advantage by applying to our professional team, their expert knowledge and experience to learn how to:

    • Understand the whole shipment structure, including comprehensive analysis of all underlying costs inside each transport chain. This will allow one to plan shipment costs and timing correctly;
    • Develop technical documentation (stowage and securing schemes, voyage instructions, etc.) in accordance with international and local standards, applicable throughout shipment lifetime, including approval by authorised local administrations, which serves as a good advantage when providing carriers, stevedoring and construction organisations with readily available technical task;
    • Win a significant advantage through time planning and cost estimation especially by Procurement and Construction companies, who may have agreed equipment delivery schedules in respect to particular projects expected for realisation.
